These days Babar Azam and records are going together. The Pakistani captain is slowly making many records in his name. On Friday, Babar has achieved another major achievement in the history of international cricket. The right-handed batsman scored 77 runs in 93 balls in the second ODI of the series against the West Indies and took another record to his name.

Babar had his ninth consecutive fifty in international cricket, which would now be a difficult record for any batsman. The series against Australia began with Babar’s fine innings of 196 during the second Test, followed by 66 and 55 in the third and final Test.

In the three-match ODI series against Australia, Babar scored two centuries in three matches, registering scores of 57, 114 and 105 not out. Babar scored 66 runs in the only T20 for Aaron Finch. The Pakistan captain made a comeback to the international level by scoring a century (103) in the first match of the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies.

Incidentally, Babar had even surpassed former India captain Virat Kohli in the previous game, when he reached 1000 runs as captain of Pakistan in just 13 matches. With this, he became the fastest captain to reach this figure in the 50-over format. Earlier in the second ODI, Pakistan posted a total of 275/8 in 50 overs thanks to contributions from Babar and Imam-ul-Haq (72), as well as the lower-middle order.

Mohammad Nawaz’s four-wicket haul led his bowlers to reduce West Indies to just 155 in the run-chase as Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The third and last ODI of the series will be held in Multan on June 12.
